Breakout on Metals last week including Gold and Silver - Will it sustain?

2 min read

Last week brought sharp moves across metals — but the follow-through has been mixed. Here's a quick technical read:

Gold - Big Green breakout last Wednesday after a 6 week consolidation. Another big green candle on Friday took the price close to critical overhead resistance ~$4380 with a close below. A couple of closes above this level could develop into a trending move, however, a sell signal closes to this level could pull the price back below $4200.

Silver - Similar to Gold, Big Green breakout last Wednesday after a 6 week consolidation. Another big green candle on Friday took the price above the prior Pivot Resistance before a pullback in the late hours that retested the support below. Technically stronger bullish bullish formation compared to Gold that looks all set to move higher.

Platinum - Big breakout last Tuesday followed by 3 successive reverse hammers. A bearish development where the price was rejected thrice on an attempt to move higher, negating the prior breakout.

Copper and Zinc - Breakout from a ~3M range last Wednesday followed by a Reverse Hammer and Big Red candle on Thursday and Friday respectively. A failed breakout that is an emphatic sell signal.

In summary, Gold and Silver are showing bullish continuation setups. The next few sessions — particularly how they behave near resistance — should clarify whether this is the start of a broader trending move or just short-lived volatility. Platinum, Copper and Zinc are flashing failed-breakout warnings. This is in contrast to how Gold and Silver are positioned technically. Only time will tell what happens next.
